UBIQUITI USW-LR-SWITCH-8-POE
Product Description
Long-Range Switch 8 PoE
Power and Data Up to 800 Meters Over One Cable
Installation Guide (PDF)
An 8-port PoE+++ switch that pushes power and data far beyond the 100-meter Ethernet limit. Paired with Long-Range Endpoints, each port reaches remote cameras, gates and IoT devices up to 800 meters away with up to 90W of PoE, with no fiber or local power required.
The 100-meter limit, solved
Standard Ethernet stops at 100 meters. Past that point, reaching a camera at the far end of a parking lot, a gate controller at the property line or a sensor across a yard usually means running fiber. You also have to bring electrical power out to the device. The Ubiquiti UniFi Long-Range Switch 8 PoE removes both problems. Paired with a Long-Range Endpoint, it sends data and PoE power up to 800 meters over a single Ethernet cable, roughly eight times the normal limit.
How it works
Each of the switch's eight ports can drive a long-range link. At the far end of the run, an Outdoor Long-Range Endpoint connects to your camera, access point or other device. The endpoint is IPX5 weather-rated and has built-in surge protection. You need one endpoint for each port you run long-range. Each port delivers up to 90W of PoE, enough for PTZ cameras and outdoor access points rather than just basic sensors. Long-range links run at up to 100 Mbps, which is plenty for security cameras, door access and IoT devices.
Plan your power by distance
Power at the far end drops as the cable gets longer. Before you deploy, check how much power the device at the end of each run needs against Ubiquiti's distance chart. A low-power dome camera can sit much farther out than a high-wattage PTZ. Ubiquiti rates the full 800 m distance using its UniFi Outdoor Cable.
Managed like the rest of your UniFi network
The switch is managed in UniFi alongside your gateway, switches, WiFi and UniFi Protect cameras, with no license fees. A 1.3-inch touchscreen on the front shows status at a glance. Rackmount hardware is included for single or dual side-by-side mounting in a 1U space.
Good fits: perimeter and parking-lot cameras, gates and remote door access, outbuildings and guard shacks, farms and large properties, campus walkways, and basic outdoor WiFi at the edge of a site.
What to order with it:
• Outdoor Long-Range Endpoint (UACC-LR-Endpoint): one per long-range run (required for long-range operation)
• UniFi Outdoor Cable (UACC-Cable-C5e-Outdoor-Pro-305M-W): 1,000 ft box, for maximum rated distance
• SFP to RJ45 Adapter (UACC-CM-RJ45-1G): if needed for your uplink
